Create your own timeline - what is the focus you want?
Show Notes Transcript

In order to create a timeline that supports you in making positive change to your mindset, you need to be very clear about what and who you really want in it.

Join me for day eight of my January series of short podcasts on how you can create your own timeline.

I’m Dinah Liversidge and I’m a Coach and Trainer, a Celebrant and co-host of The Charcoal Hut, a woodland cabin in Myddfai, Carmarthenshire. I’m also a no-box-thinker. I believe when we stop trying to ‘think outside the box’ we take away labels and limitations that were always an illusion. There never was a box.

I love being a Coach, a Celebrant and a Host. All these aspects of my life help me achieve that illusive ‘work-life balance’ so many seem to be striving for. Join me in Myddfai in our woodland garden for a #MyddfaiMinute and listen to one minute of birdsong. I hope it brings you some peace.

If you’d like to explore Coaching, take a look at my Mindset Coaching here.

I hope you’re enjoying my Podcasts. I’d love you to share them with someone you think would get something positive from them.

Speaker 1:

Hi there. I'm Dinah Liversidge. Thanks for joining me on my podcast this month, I've been talking about creating your own timeline, the idea that both in social media, but also in your day to day timeline, the hours you are spending alive and engaging that you have this chance to look at what, what have I created here? What have I surrounded myself with? What's the language that's appearing day in and day out in my timeline. And today I wanted to talk about what it is you really want from your timeline. In December. I talked about how I believe in our daily lives and in very much in our kind of what we create in our language, our truth is created by what we focus on. Well, I would say the same is true with our timeline, that what the focus is in our timeline needs to be what we want our truth to be our reality to be. So I know myself that when I was creating a new program, I spent about two or three days after I first told people about it thinking, well, I've sent the information, why haven't I heard from anybody? Why hasn't anybody responded? And of course I was focusing on that negative. And as soon as I saw what I was doing, and I shifted my thinking and said, I'm excited for when the first person responds. I'm really looking forward to having a conversation with someone about the program. But guess what? I got my first inquiry that said, so how do I take the next step? How can we work together? So I had to decide in my language timeline, do I focus on the negatives that have not, or do I focus on the have? And for so many of us over the last year, projects have been put on hold, dreams, plans, weddings, business launches, holidays of a lifetime. All those things have had to grind to a hole and it would be so easy to focus on those things, the lack of, but when we fill our timeline with laughter, yeah, know what I'm going to say, it's lacking. It's going to feel like it's all about what we don't have. So what do you really want your timeline to look like? Do you want it to be packed full of people day in and day out? Do you want it to have moments for you of real peace and calm and quiet? Do you want it to have singing and laughter and your grandchildren? What are the things you want in your timeline? No thoughts of what you want to take away today. This is about creation. This is about a focus that you can keep looking forward to. It's really important when it's hard to put timescales on things that our timelines are always focused on. What's coming. What's what there is to look forward, to, to have hope for, to dream about. So make this an exercise in what would my dream daily timeline really look like? What do I want that to be? I've always found when I'm clear with myself in my language about what I really want, not what I think I should want, but what I really want. It is far easier for me to create. I hope you found that an interesting concept and I would love to hear from some of you do connect with me on Twitter at diner. Liversidge, I'd love to know if you're finding this topic on the podcast has helped. You can shift your focus in your timeline. Do join me for the ninth in my January series, where I'm going to talk about what you can add to your timeline in simple, easy steps that have kind of a quick change for you, ways to boost yourself and change that timeline that you can easily take action on. Because I realized that changing a lifetime's habits involves tiny, tiny steps, but if we keep taking them, we have a real chance to change our timelines for the better. So I hope you'll join me again. And, uh, as I like to always end by reminding you, there really is no need to try and think outside the box. That box has always been completely imaginary. Bye for now.
