Create your own timeline - whose timeline inspires you?
Show Notes Transcript

How does your timeline make you feel? Is it lifting you up and inspiring you or pulling you down? In this fourth episode of my short January podcasts focusing on creating your own timeline to support your mindset, I suggest you take a look at who is truly inspiring you and your peers with their timeline.

I’m Dinah Liversidge and I’m a Coach and Trainer, a Celebrant and co-host of The Charcoal Hut, a woodland cabin in Myddfai, Carmarthenshire. I’m also a no-box-thinker. I believe when we stop trying to ‘think outside the box’ we take away labels and limitations that were always an illusion. There never was a box.

I love being a Coach, a Celebrant and a Host. All these aspects of my life help me achieve that illusive ‘work-life balance’ so many seem to be striving for. Join me in Myddfai in our woodland garden for a #MyddfaiMinute and listen to one minute of birdsong. I hope it brings you some peace.

I hope you’re enjoying my Podcasts. I’d love you to share them with someone you think would get something positive from them.

Speaker 1:

Hi there. I'm Dana Leversedge. Thanks for joining me on my podcast. And today is episode four of my series of 10 short podcasts for January, 2021. Focusing on creating your own timeline. When I talk about your timeline, we're all in a timeline. I know we use timeline on social media to talk about the words and the, the kind of interactions of others. But I think if we see every day that we're alive as part of our own timeline, we think, or we can think about who we allow into that space. If you were living the way people appear to live on Facebook or Instagram, nothing would ever be in your world that wasn't amazing or wonderful or beautiful. Of course, sadly, that isn't the case, but we can be selective to a large degree about what we allow to influence our daily timeline. Something as simple as muting somebody or, or a term on one of your social media accounts can create a new, much more peaceful and, uh, pleasant timeline to hang out in. So how can you do the same in your daily timeline? So today I wanted to ask whose timeline inspires you. I had a, a message recently from somebody I rate exceptionally high need. Um, and she was having a bit of a moment as we all regularly do. She'd looked at the incredible, very, very professionally done website of a colleague, um, a colleague of mine to, I should say a peer rather than a colleague where we all went work for ourselves, but in the same sort of industries, and this website is so polished and so beautifully done. Um, and so represents the person who it's for who is always professional, always incredibly turned out immaculate. Um, and, and if you hadn't put this person's name on the website, I would have known it was theirs because everything about it is beautifully branded and in the right colors. And even the fonts made me think of her. And in that moment of wobble, we decided to, to focus instead of thinking, why don't I have such a professional fabulous, incredible looking site. We decided instead to say, so how different would I feel about this if instead of being, instead of using it to kind of confirm all those imposter comments that I carry around, how bout if I used it instead to be inspired? How about if instead I looked at it and said, wow, I'm going to work so hard at my business that people are going to end up looking at my site and saying, Whoa, I want my site to look like that. You see, when we allow other people's timelines to inspire us, we can set those big, scary goals because our mindset has shifted from a closed mindset, which feels envy and thinks, well, why do they deserve to do better than me to a open and growth mindset that allows us to say, wow, what an inspiration she is. Her site looks so polished and so fabulous. And so professional. I want to raise my game. I want people to feel inspired when they see my site and we've changed the mindset completely and what we're going to get as a result. Well, the possibilities become endless because now we're learning where are in growth. So whose timeline inspires you, whose timeline makes you want to be a better version of yourself? I believe if you look, you'll see that the people whose timelines on social media, you choose to spend most time in or around or being involved in are those people. They are the ones who are inspiring you. And if that's not your truth, if you look at your timeline and it pulls you down, you need to change your timeline. Find some of those people who are lifting others, it's easy to search for happiness, gratitude, motivational Monday, thoughtful Thursday, take a look at those kinds of terms and fill your timeline with real inspiration. That helps you shift that mindset to a place of growth and of hope. I hope you found it interesting today in the next episode, I'm going to talk about what happens when you revert back to how things used to be with your timeline and how that's. Okay. Thank you for joining me, please. Don't keep me a secret. I'd love you to share the link to these podcasts with people you think might benefit from more positivity in their timeline. I'm Diana Leversedge. And remember there is no box.
