Nurture and Nourish your Mindset: How do you nurture and nourish your mindset?
Show Notes Transcript

This month's series of short Podcasts is about how to nurture and nourish your mindset.
In this first episode, I explain the concept of how nurture and nourishment can apply to our mental wellness.

I’m Dinah Liversidge and I’m a Coach and Trainer, a Celebrant and co-host of The Charcoal Hut, a woodland cabin in Myddfai, Carmarthenshire. I’m also a no-box-thinker. I believe when we stop trying to ‘think outside the box’ we take away labels and limitations that were always an illusion. There never was a box.

I love being a Coach, a Celebrant and a Host. All these aspects of my life help me achieve that illusive ‘work-life balance’ so many seem to be striving for. Join me in Myddfai in our woodland garden for a #MyddfaiMinute and listen to one minute of birdsong. I hope it brings you some peace.

If you’d like to explore Coaching, take a look at my Mindset Coaching here.

I hope you’re enjoying my Podcasts. I’d love you to share them with someone you think would get something positive from them.

Speaker 1:

Hi there I'm Dinah. Leversedge welcome to the no box thinking podcast. This is the first in my February short podcasts. There will be 10 in the series and this month I'm focusing on how we can nourish and nurture our mindset. You know, usually when we think of nourishment, we think of food and feeding our bodies of giving it the nutrients required, but actually nourishment. Isn't only about food. It's about providing what's necessary for growth, for health and for good condition. And more and more I'm pleased to say we have started to acknowledge in society in general that our mental health is as important as our physical health. And that actually, if we're not nourishing the mental wellness part of, of being the human that each of us is, then we're going to encounter physical problems as well. They're so integrally linked to each other. And of course the nourishment that we get from food, isn't just about vitamins and minerals and all those things. It can be nourishing to sit with loved ones, to prepare food. For those that we care about, all of that is nourishing because it's necessary for our growth for our wellness. And during the current situation we're in, I think many of us, many of us feel under nourished, not because we're not eating, but because we're not getting that energy exchange that being around each other, who doesn't miss a hug from a person they really can't can feel connected to. And that brings us that nourishment, that we need to start topping up our mental health, our mental wellness. And the other aspect that I think is so important to understand is nurture you, nurture something to care for and protect it while it's growing. Well, I don't know about you, but I think my mindset grows every day. Every new challenge, every new encounter, every relationship, every conversation we are developing and changing and growing from what we learn from others. Particularly if we're open-minded to that, if we're prepared to set our mindset on the kind of I'm willing to learn and not see you as a, a threat setting. And so nurturing your mindset is about looking at what is it that it means to protect it, to make it feel loved and looked after while it's therefore creating a safe place to grow. You know, often when we're being closed minded, when our mindset has shifted to that place, it's because of a past experience. And perhaps we were in a place in our own sort of life cycle, if you like where we weren't yet ready to nurture ourselves. And if somebody wasn't doing it for us, if we, as a young individual, didn't get messages that said, you matter, you're important. We are going to protect you while you grow. It's really hard to know how to do it for ourselves. So in this series of 10 short podcasts in February, I'm going to share with you some of the ways that I nurture and nourish myself to make sure that my mindset is one of a place where I feel supported, where I know that how I feel today matters and that if I'm struggling, it's okay to say so, and look at ways to change that. I do hope you'll join me for the other short podcast in the series. And, uh, if you'd like to share me with other people and tell them about the podcasts, then do please spread the word on social media. I'd like to end by reminding you that this is the new box thinking podcast. There is no need to keep trying to think outside the box. Once you have decided it is purely, you mentioned, right? Thanks for joining me.
