Nurture and Nourish your Mindset: Time to review how you can support your mindset
Show Notes Transcript

In the last of my short February Podcasts on how to nurture and nourish your mindset, I look at how to keep the change going.

I’m Dinah Liversidge and I’m a Coach and Trainer, a Celebrant and co-host of The Charcoal Hut, a woodland cabin in Myddfai, Carmarthenshire. I’m also a no-box-thinker. I believe when we stop trying to ‘think outside the box’ we take away labels and limitations that were always an illusion. There never was a box.

I love being a Coach, a Celebrant and a Host. All these aspects of my life help me achieve that illusive ‘work-life balance’ so many seem to be striving for. Join me in Myddfai in our woodland garden for a #MyddfaiMinute and listen to one minute of birdsong. I hope it brings you some peace.

If you’d like to explore Coaching, take a look at my Mindset Coaching here.

I hope you’re enjoying my Podcasts. I’d love you to share them with someone you think would get something positive from them.

Speaker 1:

Hi there I'm Diana Leversedge and welcome to my no box thinking podcast this month in my series of 10 podcasts. And this is the 10th I've been talking about how we can nurture and nourish our mindset. Nurture is defined as to care for and protect someone or something while they are growing. And the definition of nourish is to provide with the food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition. And I've talked this month about how both of these things that we so often do for others, or think of in terms of, of simple things like eating, actually go much further than that. And that we really can nourish ourselves and our mindset in order to be at peak health, to be in a space where we're in growth mindset. And however you choose to define good condition. I think when we apply that to our mental wellness and our physical wellness, it's about feeling contentment, feeling less stress, feeling, more calm, feeling more well. So I'd love to know. Has there been a difference since you've been thinking more about whether your getting the nourishment and nurture that you need, what I hope you will do is take that and turn it into action. Otherwise, what tends to happen when we become aware that we are lacking is that we focus on the lack of, and we become more aware of it. So thinking about nourishing and then not doing that means we're likely to feel the lack of nourishment all the more so for this to have been a benefit to you this month, it's time to take action and allow yourself to go forward with the mindset that shifted while you were listening this month, the mindset that allowed you a couple of times to stop doing busy and step outside into nature. Remember how good that felt, where you do deserve to put that in your schedule and do it every day. Because as soon as you stop doing it and you focus again on the lack of it, you are going to drain away that nourishment. And instead of adding something that helps you grow, that is good for your health. It's like you're adding poison and the nurturing the idea that you deserve to be cared for because you are growing. That's a big one to embrace. And I hope you thought this month, about ways you can do that. That don't have to be huge gestures because the bigger we make them, the easier it is to find an excuse, not to do them. My tree time, that can be as little as five minutes, tops me up helps me feel nurtured, reconnect me with nature, which nourishes me. And because I have said five minutes is enough. It's really hard for me to find a good enough excuse not to do it. So set yourself up to succeed with this mission of nourishing and nurturing yourself and do that by putting something in your diary every day that you don't dismiss, that you don't say something else came up, that was more important. You know what? That time is a meeting with your most important friend, client coworker, uh, motivator that meeting with yourself that time to acknowledge you deserve to be nurtured, to receive nourishment. That is the most important five or 10 minutes of your day. I really hope that you have enjoyed this series. And next month, my 10 short podcasts for March are also of course about mindset, but my focus is going to be on learning a new language. I hope you'll join me. And until then do go back over December and January is short podcasts to help you on this journey of supporting your mindset. And remember, there is no need to attempt to think about all of this outside the box. There really is no box.
