The language we use over and over to keep ourselves from stepping into our best space, our brightest light, needs challenging. In the third of my March short Podcasts on Learning a New Language for our Mindset, I look at what you are saying to yourself that is keeping you small.

I’m Dinah Liversidge and I’m a Coach and Trainer, a Celebrant and co-host of The Charcoal Hut, a woodland cabin in Myddfai, Carmarthenshire. I’m also a no-box-thinker. I believe when we stop trying to ‘think outside the box’ we take away labels and limitations that were always an illusion. There never was a box.

I love being a Coach, a Celebrant and a Host. All these aspects of my life help me achieve that illusive ‘work-life balance’ so many seem to be striving for. Join me in Myddfai in our woodland garden for a #MyddfaiMinute and listen to one minute of birdsong. I hope it brings you some peace.

I hope you’re enjoying my Podcasts. I’d love you to share them with someone you think would get something positive from them.

Speaker 1:

Hi there. I'm Dinah Liversidge . Thanks for joining me on my no box thinking podcast. This month, I'm focusing on how we can learn a new language to support our mindset. And in this third episode, I wanted to say, what do you say to yourself? That's keeping you small. What are you saying? That's minimizing your brightness and your shine. The language that we use becomes our truth. So if I repeatedly tell myself that I am something or some way, then that is my deep rooted truth, because I believe it think about the first person you worked for, who made you feel like, wow, I'm good at my job. The first person that used to stop and say, great job. Thanks. Great job. You did a great job of that. Wow. I'm so pleased. I took you on you do a great job for me. There will have been someone who made you see that you're valued and it was their language that did that. And as soon as you were told, you felt a little bit taller, your shoulders kind of pushed back a bit. You raise your head and think, wow, they're talking about me. But words that you use will be stopping you from stepping into your light will be stopping you following your path. It's okay to feel concern, anxious a bit trepidatious. Oh , I love that word about what lies ahead. And you know what? You might fail and you might shine. You might step into that light and realize how warm it feels, how safe it is. You might step into that light and realize it's where you belong in this moment, right now, with all the skills and experience you bring. Because in that light, someone else can see you and say, me too. I feel that way. I see those things. I hear that voice. Can I go on this journey with you? Stepping out of our smallness? Doesn't have to feel scary if that's not the story we spin in our head. It's all about the language. Remember back to being that age, where you went to the FunFair or the carnival, and you stood with your friend giggling and excited or showing off to a girl by posing and looking really cool. As you waited to get on the ride that was making everybody scream with delight and you screamed and everybody thought it was great and funny and wonderful. But then one day when you screamed, someone laughed at you and called you a sissy and said you were scared and excitement became fear just because of the change of one word, just because of language. How about the next time you feel that fear that keeps you small. You challenge it and you say, you're not fair. Your excitement, your anticipated patient . Um , stepping into our light requires us to learn a new language, to learn a language where it's okay to fail, where it's okay to have your best go, because who knows how bright that could be and who knows who might need or benefit from hearing it. When we step out of our fear and into that place, we blaze a trail for others to follow. Perhaps if someone had done that for you sooner, you wouldn't be afraid to step into that light. So come on, but of courage. You've got this, give it your best go. I hope you'll join me on my next episode, where I'm going to ask you is the words that you are repeating to reinforce your closed mindset. I'm Diana lever Sage, and I'd like to remind you, you don't need to try and think outside the box. There really genuinely absolutely is no box.
